You are at one of the world’s best birding destinations if you are in Southeastern AZ. Whether you are a birder or just want to enjoy mild winters, dark skies, or cooler summer rains referred to as “the monsoon” called because the gulf winds bring rains to our desert. Elevation and climate rule. Geologic history has created mountain ranges called “sky islands” with high deserts and grasslands to blanket the area around them. There are four canyon areas plus a Riparian Conservation area within a 10 to 20 mile area from the GuesthouseMIL house you are located in. The places attract birds and mammals alike.

The Sundowner’s one bedroom country cottage is completely furnished with all the amenities. The living room area has a hide-a-bed for extra sleeping, dining area and full kitchen are one large open space. The house is air-conditioned and central heat. There are books, maps and information of the area in the bookshelf in the living area. The bedroom with a queen size bed, comfortable mattress, chest of drawers and closet is private. The laundry room contains a washer and dryer and has an outside door that is convenient to an available clothesline. The house was built for the property owner’s parents to have long visits at an earlier time therefore called the MIL (Mother-in-Law) house. The acronym stuck and the family continued to call it the MIL House. ┬áThe family has lived on the property since 1974. Our three children grew up in a country setting. They have all since grown up and moved away but love coming home to Cochise County. The Sundowner’s name came about because we all left to go to work and school in the mornings and all came home in the evenings at Sundown or in the shadows of the mountains. The Sundowner property is seven acres of native grasses, trees and a desert wash running through the property.
